Construction Specifications

Construction Specifications

Our project management team can oversee the interior design elements of home construction. These elements include wall colors, molding selections, hardwood selections, tile selections, cabinetry design, outlet placement, etc. We fully coordinate with the architect, builder, contractors and/or other trades to keep the process seamless and ensure a beautiful interior.

We ask a lengthy series of questions, and carefully listen to the client's needs and wishes in order to fully understand their needs

Initial Meeting

Our Head of Design and a Project Manager meet with the client to gather information regarding the project, discuss conceptual ideas, and understand the client's aesthetic and functional requirements. Sometimes the client provides ideas gathered from magazines, the internet, or books. We ask a lengthy series of questions, and carefully listen to the client's needs and wishes in order to fully understand them. Our team will show the client images from our design database which has over 10,000 images of interiors, until we have pinpointed the client’s desires.

As each interior design decision is made and surfaces are approved, we continue the floor plan and elevation drawings

Concept Presentation

Our Head of Design leads the team in a brainstorming session utilizing our design database, our 2,000+ vendor relations, and our Designers’ experience. The Head of Design and Project Manager then use the best concepts to create a presentation of ideas for flooring, interior architectural elements, paint colors, tile selections, etc. For each selection there are multiple options. Next, the team presents to the client. The team continues to meet with the client until they have selections that elate them.

Color schemes, samples of tile, hardwood, cabinetry and other proposed hard surface materials are specified

Construction Documentation

The goals of this stage are to attain final approval on all construction specifications from the client, and place them in a format the builders, architects, and contractors can use in the construction of the home. We begin using documentation from the architect, which we translate into floor plans via AutoCAD, an industry standard program. Once the floor plans are complete, we begin elevating interior walls that are of importance or reflect proposed design content, in order to provide the owner with a visual of the plan. If further visual is needed, we provide 3-dimensional sketches during presentation. These 'spec presentations' include color schemes, samples of tile, hardwood, cabinetry and other proposed hard surface materials, and the preliminary elevation drawings. The client either approves or requests changes to these documents, until we attain a final approval.

These become critical documents for each trade during the construction phase and help ensure correct and seamless installations

Construction Specifications Package

The final document includes floor plans and interior elevations indicating where all hard surface materials are located and their specifications informing the contractors how to apply the hard surfaces. These become critical documents for each trade during the construction phase and help ensure correct and seamless installations.

Using antique pieces in a home today requires a designer to look into the past and find, that which is timeless.
