The Design Process

The Design Process

We ask a lengthy series of questions, and carefully listen to the client's needs and wishes in order to fully understand them.

Initial Meeting

Our Head of Design meets with the client to gather information regarding the project, discuss conceptual ideas, and understand the client's aesthetic and functional requirements. Sometimes the client provides ideas gathered from magazines, the internet, or books. We ask a lengthy series of questions, and carefully listen to the client's needs and wishes in order to fully understand them. Our team will show the client images from our design database which has over 10,000 images of interiors and other resources, until we have pinpointed the client’s desires.

The Head of Design and Project Manager then refine the best concepts, and create a space plan for each room.

Space Plan and Product Selection

Our Head of Design leads the team in a brainstorming session utilizing our design database, our 2,000+ vendor relations, and our Designers’ experience. The Head of Design and Project Manager then refine the best concepts, and create a space plan for each room. Next, the Head of Design pulls products for each item. For each product there are multiple options in case the client desires something different than our recommendation. We also address window treatments in this stage, choosing the proper fabrics and configurations.

The Head of Design presents the space plan, concepts for each room, and the individual items for each furnishing on the plan to the client.

Presentation

The Head of Design presents the space plan, concepts for each room, and the individual items for each furnishing on the plan to the client. For each product, we will present up to 10 options. The team continues to meet with the client until they have selections that elate them.

A final meeting is usually held to review all of the revisions and original selections.

Final selections

A final meeting is usually held to review all of the revisions and original selections. Afterwards, we are able to begin ordering the product.

The Head of Design, Lead Merchandiser, Project Manager, delivery team, tradesman, etc choose dates that are convenient to the client.

Expediting and Quality Control

Many of our product selections are custom. To properly manage the specifying, construction, and finishing a team of professional designers led by the project manager oversees the ordering, receiving, and quality control. We inspect each item after receiving it to ensure it is the proper finish, dimensions, and construction. The furnishings are usually stored in one of our warehouse facilities at no charge to the client.

Installation

The Head of Design, Lead Merchandiser, Project Manager, delivery team, tradesman, etc. choose dates that are convenient to the client to install all of their selections. Window treatments are hung, sofas placed, beds assembled, lighting hung, etc. This process usually takes 2-5 days to completely install a fabulous new interior.

While I am excited about the future of design, I find it more important to respect the past.
